**thank you for your support!

Voting is currently open at Minted for the "Spaces & Places" art print challenge. The Minted.com design challenges are dependent on the Minted community to vote and tell them what to sell. Anyone can be a part of the Minted community by simply creating an account. The pineapple image above displays my photographic art print entry into this challenge. I hope you like it and if you do, I'd love to have your vote!  :)

What is Minted?

If you're new to Minted, I highly recommend checking them out. Currently it is my go to resource for unique wall art, stationary, invitations, and I even did a digital baby shower invite several months ago with their awesome new digital invitations.  But that's not all they offer... they also have a collection of uniquely fresh home decor products, party decor, holiday decor, home accessories, fabric by the yard, wedding and shower invites, party favors, and more. The very best things about what Minted has to offer, is the exceptional quality of their products, the variety of unique designs, the opportunity they give to independent artists/designers to get they're fabulous work out there, and that their products are all exclusively sold on Minted or those they collaborate with (like PBteen, PBkids, West Elm, and others).

Are you a Designer, Artist or Photographer?

Whether you're a hobbyist or a professional, the Minted art challenges may be for you. It's a great way to grow as an artist, get honest feedback on your works, win monetary prizes/awards, get your work out there and licensed, and have fun! I only first entered the Minted challenges about a year or so ago, and I'm so glad I did. One of the most amazing things about getting involved in these challenges are the resources, live speakers, and support you get from the Minted team and the community.

To date I've submitted 20 art prints in Minted challenges, and I've learned so much during that time. Critiquing my own work has always been a thorn in my side, but I'm learning with the help of Minted resources how to go about it in a smarter more objective way.  Only 2 out of my 20 art print submissions have ever won in a challenge. But just because they didn't win doesn't mean that they're a total loss. With honest feedback, I can choose to self launch any (or all) of these prints at any time. I am still narrowing it down, but a few will be launched within a month or two (at least that's the plan). If you'd like to see all my art submissions you can check it out here. You will need to scroll down the page and click on "designs submitted" to see them all.

Here's a preview of a few of the submissions I've made in the past. I'd love to know which ones you'd like to see in my Minted shop:

Amazing opportunities await...

If you had told me a year ago that in the near future, one of my Minted art print entries would be in PBteen stores, the PBteen Early Fall 2106 Catalog (in print & the e-catalog), and in PBteen stores across the US, I would have probably said you were just crazy. But when this challenge presented itself in early 2016, the words I depend on as an independent artist, designer, and photographer kicked in... if I have learned anything in my creative journey, it's that "Every accomplishment begins with the decision to try". Yes, it's a risk, it can also be nerve racking and intimidating at times but in order to grow and succeed, this is a very necessary part of the journey of an artist. I only wish I had learned this sooner than later in life.

OK, somebody please pinch me... PBteen & PBkids are two of my favorite retailers, and one of the most widely recognized and largest brands in children and teen home decor, and spaces. They recently teamed up with minted a few months ago, extending an opportunity for independent artists and designers to participate in a wall art challenge. Well the results are in, and I'm so thrilled to finally be able to announce that one of my submissions was chosen and awarded an "Editors Pick" award and also a second special award "A Few of my Favorite Things Award For the best hobby focused art print" by PBteen.

What does this mean?
Well, this means that my art print (displayed above) is now available through PBteen's website, in select PBteen stores across the U.S. and through their "Early Fall 2016" catalog.

ADDING A COLOR TONE TO YOUR IMAGE

Happy 2016 folks... hope you're having a perfectly grand and productive new year!  Looking back on 2015 I'd say it was productive, positive, busy, and overall successful.  I opened a new Stock Photo Shop at Creative Market (my very favorite one stop shop for digital resources) as some of you may already know, and as a result my business has shifted it's focus a bit. More about that in a later post but in the meanwhile, if you haven't checked out my Stock Photo Shop, feel free to check it out here.

I also wanted to share a super easy tutorial on how to add color tone (using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements) to your image using one of my newest stock images, "Floral Bloom".  The image is a neutral colored floral, but it occurred to me me that the colors may not suit everyone's needs, so I wanted to show you an easy non destructive way to alter the colors.

You can find the original image displayed above. Below I'll show you how I changed the color tone on the original image:

Pink tones

Peach tones:

It's just that easy. You can also adjust the opacity to taste, and that's it you're done if you're happy with the results. There are many ways to adjust the color tones, but I just wanted to show you the quick easy peezy way I do it. Hope this is helpful, and enjoy the rest of your week!
